Amritsar Gurudwara Darshan

Sri Harmandir Sahib, is named after Hari (God) the temple of God, also known as the Golden Temple in Amritsar is the holiest shrine of the Sikh religion. It was built by the fifth Sikh guru, Guru Arjan, in the 16th Century. In 1604, Guru Arjan completed the Adi Granth, the holy scripture of Sikhism. There are four doors to get into the Harmandir Sahib, which symbolize the openness of the Sikhs towards all people and religions. The Gurdwara is surrounded by a large lake or holy tank, known as the Sarovar, which consists of Amrit (holy water). Sri Harmandir Sahib is the heritage of the Sikh people gathered in their five hundred years old history.

Gurdwara Baba Atal: Gurudwara Shri Atal Ji Sahib is situated in the Distt City Amritsar. It is situated on the backside of Gurudwara Shri Harimandir Sahib. Baba Atal Rai was a son of Guru Hargobind, the sixth Guru of the Sikhs born at Amritsar on 23 October 1619. One day as young Atal Rai playmate was bitten by a snake and died. At seeing the boy's family crying over his body, Atal Rai bought his friend back to life. When Guru Hargobind heard of the miracle he admonished his son saying that "How can anyone interfere with the ways of God?". Baba Atal Rai was so distressed at hearing his father's reprimand that he withdrew to the side of Kaulsar pool and saying his prayers, lay down and gave up his life for the life that he had saved. After that, the Guru Hargobind Ji ordered a temple built in Baba Atal’s honor. It stands still today - nine stories high and is called “Baba Atal.” Blessed are the saints who, merged with the Naam, sweetly understand and accept the Will of God.

Gurudwara Ramsar Sahib: Gurudwara Ramsar stands on the bank of the Ramsar Sarovar, near Chativind Gate. The Ramsar Gurdwara is situated the smallest of the five Sarovars in the holy city of Amritsar called Ramsar Sarovar. It was built in 1855 at the site of the original shrine, where long before the present Gurdwara was constructed, Guru Arjun Dev, the fifth Sikh Guru who was looking for a quiet spot away from the growing city of Amritsar, chose this site as the spot where the Guru Granth Sahib would take form. In 1603, Guru Arjun Dev, the fifth Sikh Guru spent over a year in semi-seclusion along with his scribe, Bhai Gurdas to complete the holy Shri Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred Sikh scripture.

Visit Gurudwara Manji Sahib: Gurudwara Sri Manji Sahib is situated in the city Amritsar. Situated on the Tarn Taran road, Chattiwind gate, it marks the place where Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji wrote Sukhmani Sahib, sitting on the bank of Ramsar Sarovar under ber tree. This sacred place is adjoining to Gurudwara Sri Ramsar Sahib.

Visit Gurudwara Baba Deep Singh Ji (shaheed Sahib): Shahid Baba Deep Singh Gurudwara, Amritsar The great Sikh scholar and martyr Baba Deep Singh was mortally wounded here. Baba Deep Singh Ji was the leader of the famous " Shaheedan Di Misl " among the 12 misls. When Guru Gobind Singh came to Damdama Sahib, Baba Ji was responsible for the distribution of the Guru Granth Sahib to other parts of the world and was the “head granthi” (head priest) of Damdama Sahib in Bathinda. He along with five thousand faithful Sikhs fought against the Muslim forces of Jahan Khan. It commemorates the unrivaled martyrdom of Baba Deep Singh Ji who fought valiantly and dauntlessly along with thousands of Sikhs to liberate Golden Temple from the defiled clutches of Afghani invaders in 1757. Visit Gurdwaras Chheharta Sahib: Gurudwara Shri Cheharta Sahib is situated in the Amritsar City near village Guru Ki Wadali. Guru ki Wadali is the birthplace of the Sixth Guru, Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the son of Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. To celebrate the birth of his son, Guru Arjan Dev Ji constructed a big well at this place. This well had six Persian wheels to draw out the water and thus came to be known as Chheharta, the well with six wheels. This well helped in removing water scarcity in the region and enabled the greening of the fields. This well with Persian wheels is still preserved here.

Gurudwara San Sahib: Gurudwara Shri San Sahib is situated in the Amritsar. Guru Amar Das Ji was named next GURU by Guru Angad Dev Ji. This is the place where Guru Amar Das, the third Sikh Guru, stayed after coming back from Goindwal, having been ordered to leave Goindwal by Datu the son of Guru Angad Dev Ji, who was jealous at not being named the Guru by his father.

Gurdwara Baba Budha Ji: Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib popularly known as Bir Sahib is the place where Baba Budha Ji spend much part of his life (1506 - 1631). Baba Buddha is a unique personage in Sikhism. He was a contemporary of the first six Sikh Gurus and had personally performed the anointment ceremony for Gurus from second to sixth. In 1604 AD Baba Buddha became the first Granthi (priest of the Golden Temple and in that capacity completed the first path (perusal) of the Adi Granth.

Gurdwara Tarn Taran Sahib: Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib is a gurdwara established by the fifth guru, Guru Arjan Dev, in the city of Tarn Taran Sahib, Punjab, India. It has the distinction of having the largest Sarovar (water pond) of all the Gurdwaras. It is famous for the monthly gathering of pilgrims on the day of Amavas (a no-moon night).
